CTSAMVM witnesses a trust and confidence building workshop in Wau

On 10th of January 2019, CTSAMVM Monitors in Wau State participated in a trust and confidence-building meeting held in Wau town, organized by the Wau State Authorities.

Residents of Wau State jubilantly joined the Governor H.E. Angelo Taban Biajo, Deputy Governor H.E. Zaharia Joseph, SSPDF 5 Division Commander Maj. Gen. Keer Kiir Keer, all Senior Constitutional Officials and religious leaders in the state in welcoming SPLA-IO Commander Maj.Gen. Abdulla Ujang, other senior SPLA IO officers, chiefs and commissioners from Wadhalelo, Bazia, Gadi counties.

In the presence of the Ceasefire Monitors, HOFO UNMISS Wau and the chiefs of UNMISS civilian sections, the two parties reiterated their determination to implement the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan, R-ARCSS. Both parties also acknowledged the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Wau State Government and the SPLA-IO on 1st December 2018 on the cessation of hostilities, access to humanitarian aid, dismantling of all checkpoints, vacating of civilian buildings, to mention but a few.

SPLA-IO Commander Maj.Gen. Abdulla Ujang stated that together with the Government, they would respect the MoU.
