CTSAMVM honors outgoing Ceasefire Monitors

The Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring and Verification Mechanism, CTSAMVM held an Awards and Farewell Ceremony to honor twelve of its outgoing Monitors from China, Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya, who have completed their tour of duty in the mission.

The guest of honor, H.E. Ambassador HE Xiandong of the People’s Republic of China spoke on the importance of CTSAMVM’s role in the implementation of the R-ARCSS and acknowledged the contribution and dedication of the out going Monitors in fulfilling CTSAMVM’s mandate during their tenure of deployment.

CTSAMVM Chairman, Maj. Gen. Desta Abiche Ageno also lauded the Monitors for carrying out their tasks professionally in unstable environments. “Your efforts and sacrifices have helped fulfill CTSAMVM’s mandate, and produce tangible changes in the country,” adding, “I am proud of your achievement here.”

More so, Maj. Gen. Desta made note of the support given to CTSAMVM by its donors and partners, remarking that their continuous contribution and strong political support in difficult times have enabled the organization to carry out its mandate over the past years. On behalf of CTSAMVM, he thanked H.E. Ambassador HE Xiandong and presented him with a medal in recognition of the support rendered to the mission during the peace process. “I wish Ambassador He every success in his future career, and wish you all the best and safe journey back home.”

The Awards and Farewell ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Sudan H.E Adil Ibrahim Mustafa, Officials from the Embassy of China and CTSAMVM Staff.
