On 12th December 2017, CTSAMM held a donor conference in Addis Ababa Ethiopia to set the stage for the organization’s requirements and plans for 2018 as stipulated by its mandate, Chapter II of the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (ARCSS). The conference was attended by representatives from the European Union, United Kingdom, Germany, Norway and Japan.
CTSAMM briefed the representatives on the current security situation in South Sudan, Monitoring Reports overview for 2017, CTSAMM’s participation with the High Level Revitalization Forum and current developments, CTSAMM’s Capability Development for 2018, the Financial Report for 2017 and Financial Requirements for 2018.
The CTSAMM Chairman, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Abduljelill expressed his gratitude to all the Donors including the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Japan, China and Denmark and their respective representatives for their unwavering support of CTSAMM during very difficult times. “Without your support, CTSAMM could not continue to operate in South Sudan. This is precisely why this conference is critical to our continuing operations in a very fragile South Sudan.” He also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing Chairman MG Molla Hailemariam for his valuable leadership of CTSAMM for the past two years.
In turn, the donor representatives noted the importance of the role played by CTSAMM in the implementation of the peace agreement, the challenges CTSAMM faces in executing its mandate; and reiterated their continued support to the organization’s activities in 2018.
