CTSAMM explains the recently signed Ceasefire Agreement to 150 secondary school teachers.

CTSAMM participated in a workshop themed “Enhancing Teachers’ Understanding and Role in Dissemination, Implementation and Monitoring of the Peace Agreement Process”, organised by the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) and the national NGO, Crown the Women with support from Norwegian Peoples Aid.  CTSAMM gave a presentation on the recently signed Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities (ACOH). The presentation focused on the major provisions of the ACOH and the CTSAMM mandate to monitor the agreement.

The participants thanked the CTSAMM for their presentation and also expressed their frustration that hostilities are continuing despite the many agreements that have been signed. CTSAMM impressed upon the participants the importance of grass roots level peace initiatives as a means of enhancing the peace efforts at the national level and assured them that the CTSAMM is here to help restore peace and stability in the country.
