CTSAMM briefs the 21st JMEC Plenary session in Juba

On 20th November 2017, the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, JMEC held its 21st Plenary Meeting in Juba.  In attendance were the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism Deputy Chairman MG. Tariq Abdelkarim and other CTSAMM officials.

During the meeting, MG. Tariq remarked that although violations of the Ceasefire continue to take place, the scale and frequency of hostilities has decreased since the last CTSAMM Board meeting in October 2017, adding that “CTSAMM has closely monitored events throughout the country”. He made note that during this reporting period, CTSAMM has conducting a total of 3 Long Duration Patrols (LDPs), 5 Dynamic Air Patrols (DAPs), and 3 river patrols in addition to normal patrolling activities.


He further stated that the reports discussed during the 14th CTSAMM members meeting and the follow-up meetings along with the response from the Parties to the ARCSS have been published on CTSAMM and JMEC websites.

M.G Tariq extended gratitude to all members and their respective organizations for their support and cooperation during this reporting period and added that “In particular, I would like to acknowledge the Parties and UNMISS for their continued facilitation of our Monitoring and Verification Teams in the field”.
